It has been another week or more of training for Glory who is doing incredibly well with everything. I worked one day with Liz on field work in the freezing cold and she pointed out a lot of things that I was doing wrong. A lot of them I can work on right here in the driveway or in the shelter. One thing that needed work was her whistle sit....and that is now darned near perfect. I worked on that in the shelter and now she'll sit if I even touch the whistle so that is good. Scent articles can come off of the board this week and I will just tie two or three pairs together so that will be a correction for her. Signals are awesome....she can do the whole sequence from about 10 feet away. I also have been doing a lot of heeling in and out of tin cans that are one meter apart, off leash. That really helps to create a lot more focus. Another one that I have added is heeling to the offset cans....so that I look at the cans causing a body twist that gets prepared for a left turn. I will added the right turn next time. 270 degree right turns and tossing a toy help to tighten up the about turn and we did lots of scoot...backwards heeling.
And then we ended up today with some dead birds exercises mostly for me to learn how to send her better than I did before.
